Chinese products may be the rage all over the world for their price, albeit not quality, but Chinese tourists are known for their different spending habits. Apart from tourist insurance, they spend a lot on shopping, as they never return home empty-handed. According to a study, each of the travelers spent an average of $1800 per trip, without including pre-paid expenses such as airfare and accommodation.

Often, it is noted, a Chinese tourist will sacrifice good accommodation in order to be able to shop more. He/she may even skimp on dining, in order to maximize shopping. This pattern emerges when studying Chinese tourism to developed countries, where brands are available for much less when compared to the prices in China.

Some of the destinations that Chinese travelers prefer include Hong Kong and Macau. However, they are increasingly visiting other Asian countries for shopping, including Singapore and Dubai. When traveling for more than just shopping, Chinese travelers prefer Europe and the USA.

A Chinese tourist may also be tempted to go without tourist insurance, but insurance for Chinese tourists is available at affordable rates, with a range of deductibles and maximum benefits to choose from. The amount spent on tourist insurance is usually a low percentage of the total spending of a tourist.
When in Rome, a tourist is often told, do as the Romans do. Unfortunately, if the tourist falls sick, he needs tourist insurance or money, and cannot access the universal healthcare that the Roman can!

Many tourists wonder why that is so. Why can't a health insurance bevvalid in Singapore, say, be valid in the U.S.? Or why can countries not open their free public health policy to include tourists? The reasons are many.

One of the main reasons is that general long term health insurance is meant to be affordable, and is calculated based on several factors. The plan holder’s medical history, his/her place of residence, the general prevalent medical conditions in that area, etc. are all factors that determine the premium. When the plan holder travels abroad, all bets are off, since there can be no telling how the destination will be. As far as the destination country goes, allowing tourists to access free public health care will only make the country a haven for treatment seekers, draining the national resources.

However, there are plans which cover the home country and international destinations. Sometimes, medical insurance for tourists might include coverage in the home country too, especially for U.S. residents. While coverage is typically 80% for within the U.S., and 100% internationally, this coverage can be very important for those who travel very frequently, and have no long term insurance.
Like it or not, some cities are safer than others. Women traveling alone need to especially take note of this, and with some basic precautions and insurance for tourists, can ensure that their trip is hassle-free and full of positive memories.

For one, women need to be aware of their surroundings at all times. One international traveler thought that the stares she got from men in India were very unnerving. It is also a good idea to try and blend in wardrobe-wise, as much as possible.

Women traveling alone should never give any personal details or travel plans. When staying at a hotel, it is best to lock the windows if the room is on the ground floor, or has a balcony. Also, it is best to think twice before leaving a pub or party with a person who she just met.

In case of any danger, it might be easier to attract attention by shouting “Fire” rather than “Help”. Date rape is increasing at an alarming rate, and it is best not to eat anything offered by strangers, no matter how innocent they look. Also, in case of any physical discomfort, women must seek medical help immediately, and let that foreign tourist medical insurance kick in!
Richard Branson sure knows how to make travel news: He recently inaugurated the home of his space travel company, Spaceport America, although there weren’t many details about whether the $200,000 proposed space travel for commoners will include tourist insurance! However, out-of-the-world experiences are to be found on earth itself!

There is the world’s largest telescope, to be seen in Arizona. Tours can be arranged, weather permitting. If you’re traveling to Hawaii, take a break from heaven on earth, and look up to the skies from one of the best locations for a telescope, Mauna Kea Observatory in Hawaii. Free nightly stargazing programs are conducted, so you can experience the wonders of the sky firsthand.

When traveling internationally, head to the rather uninspiring-sounding South African Large Telescope in South Africa, or to one of the many telescopes functioning from Chile. Daily tours are organized by many of the sites, and it is best to check before leaving. Remember that weather plays an important role in stargazing, and it might be a waste of a trip if visiting when it’s rainy.

When touring as an international traveler, it is always important to stay healthy and safe. Medical insurance for tourists can help ensure that you don’t miss your important date with the prettiest stars!
