De-Tech Your Vacation, But Remember Basic Safety

Basically, the idea is to leave behind the stress that being “connected” always has brought to people. For a small fee, there are travel companies that provide a coach who will give tips on how to enjoy a holiday “switched off” from technology, before departure.
Once at the destination, the resorts will not have either television or WiFi. Some resorts only have phones that can reach extensions within, such as room service and reception. There are also some beaches in the Caribbean which ban the use of cell phones.
While these special holidays can ensure that you enjoy the place for what it is, this is also easily done by the power of the will. However, when going on such a vacation, it is important to ensure that you are able to reach someone in case of an emergency. While your tourist medical insurance will cover your emergency medical evacuation if it comes to that, it is important to ensure that you are able to reach the appropriate medical personnel on time.

Although summer is traditionally the best time to visit new places, making a trip during winter has its own charm. Packing may be a tad complicated but it will certainly be a different experience. Several surprises await the winter traveler. Of course, you have to remember to pack tourists insurance along with your winter clothes!
If you travel during winter, you might just miss the peak season (unless you are traveling to a warm place like Florida). This can be both good and bad. Good, because you can benefit from off-peak rates on accommodation and airfare. However, you need to ensure that all attractions are open.
Traveling in winter can be a great experience as you get to see a place as it usually isn’t shown in tourist brochures. The snow-capped Grand Canyon is indeed a beautiful sight; however, only one side of it is open through the year. If you come from a place where it doesn’t snow much, winter and snow can be wondrous things indeed.
However, remember that the roads can be treacherous during snowstorms. Also, more weather-related cancellations are likely during winter. This may make trip cancellation insurance a great add-on to your existing tourist insurance, so that you can travel worry-free. Let the snow fights begin!

As the new year dawns, the tourism industry is looking for new trends and destinations to boost its revenue. Added to tourism are allied industries such as internet travel agents, tourist insurance companies, and the hotel industry which are also hoping for a good year ahead.
Summer is generally the peak time for the tourism industry, with more than half the tourism industry’s revenue generated in just three months. With 2011 travel numbers bouncing back after a disappointing two years, the economy and travelers are both looking forward to some great vacations this year.
International travel will also increase this year, with Asia and the Balkans emerging as possible tourist spots, say experts. As more countries with questionable infrastructure become favorite destinations, they warn, there is also the danger to the casual tourist.
Experts warn international travelers to be vigilant and employ common sense when traveling to lesser-known destinations. Women traveling alone are especially prone to attacks and theft. It also becomes important to ensure that the travelers’ health is taken care of, along with attendant expenses, and it is wise to invest in a good tourist medical insurance plan.

Happy Holidays and Traveling!

For some of the travelers who travel because they can take time off their regular schedules, it will likely be a very pleasant trip. However, there are some things to keep in mind if traveling during this season.
First things first, you want to remember that airline tickets are probably very expensive unless you are taking a red eye on Christmas Eve. Also, it is best to check beforehand what establishments and attractions might be closed this season. If family-owned businesses form a significant part of your itinerary, you must ensure that they are open for business.
Also, it is best to avoid long cross-country drives on Christmas Day or New Years Day. Although emergency services will be available, they are usually stretched beyond their capacity. Getting out of a sticky situation, in case your car breaks down, for example, might take a long time. However, you can rest assured that your tourist medical insurance assistance will be available to take your call through the day, through the year.
