You’ve likely experienced this scenario; instead of taking a few days to pack for your big trip, you try to cram it into the hours before you depart. In doing so, you realize you’ve forgotten something important. The only problem is, you do not realize this until you are in the air or arriving in your destination country. Depending on the item you have forgotten, this could be a major or minor problem. If it is a prescription, then it’s a major issue, and one that is going to cost you money – unless you have protected yourself with tourists insurance.

Without insurance, a prescription could cost hundreds of dollars, depending on what kind it is. Obviously no one wants this extra expense on their travel budget, but sometimes simple mistakes like forgetting a prescription is inevitable. Life is just too busy to not make a mistake or two along the way.

And the problem of forgetting a prescription extends beyond just the cost. If you cannot afford to replace it, you could be taking some very serious health risks. That could lead to an emergency situation, and if you are in a foreign country where you do not know the language, an emergency situation is a very bad thing to be in.

So if you do make the oversight of forgetting your medication, you can get a new prescription together without incurring overly expensive fees. Try your best to pack carefully, but always be prepared with insurance just in case.
