Tourist insurance for pregnant women
Travelling can be very risky and challenging for pregnant women. The first step is to consider the safety of the lady as well as the baby. Unless necessary, it is best to avoid travel during those times.
Pregnant women are especially advised to consult a doctor before going on a trip. However if you choose to travel during that time and have confirmed the safety, the next important step is to purchase a suitable insurance plan. Note that pregnant women are restricted by some airlines even if you have purchases the required tourist insurance. Hence, you need to check with the airlines office before reserving your ticket for the travel. Some airlines require a ‘safety certificate’ from your doctor along with the estimated due date for delivery. It is quite obvious that neither the airlines nor the insurance provider would be responsible for any medical emergencies or losses that are a direct result of pregnancy.
The tourist insurance policy should have adequate coverage in case of any emergencies. Some of the insurance providers may not cover child birth, abortion, delivery or any losses due to pregnancy.
You should also find out details of the procedure required for purchasing extended tourist insurance policy for pregnant women in case you may have to extend the trip for any avoidable reasons.
