Many visitors think that tourist insurance is required only if the overseas trip extends for a long holiday period. For example, most tourists purchase an all inclusive tourist insurance policy while planning a vacation abroad.
However, a survey report says that many overseas travellers do not give importance to tourist insurance coverage during any short overseas trips over the weekend. For example, if people plan a vacation for a ferry trip to Brussels or France, they generally overlook the tourist insurance plan aspect.

Experts say that visitors neglecting to cover their families with tourist insurance even during such short duration trips are putting their family into high risk of any unforeseen emergencies that may crop up during the short stay leading to huge expenses.

In addition, many tourists who purchase a low cost tourist insurance plan jeopardize it by not disclosing the medical history conditions of any ailments, injuries or diseases at the time of purchasing the tourist insurance plan.

A recent research done on this aspect revealed a shocking fact that about a million travellers who had ongoing medical ailments did not inform their insurance company while purchasing the tourist insurance policy. Almost 500,000 overseas tourists with serious medical conditions had surprisingly opted out of purchasing a policy at all!
