As you are preparing for an international trip, you are likely running through a checklist of items to take care of before departing. You will make sure your travel arrangements are finalized and have not changed since you last confirmed them. You'll make sure your passport and any other travel documents are in o der. But did you make sure to arrange for health care coverage? If you have not already done so, you will want to research tourists insurance.

Many international travelers do not realize that the insurance policies they trust in their own country will not be accepted overseas. Network restrictions and other factors necessitate the purchase of additional plans to make sure you have coverage abroad.

Tourists insurance addresses this need, and keeps the cost of getting the medical attention you need affordable. Rather than paying hundreds or even thousands of dollars in medical fees as an uninsured visitor, you will be responsible only for a small fraction of the total costs incurred. And it does so with a relatively small upfront investment.

Plans can cover anything from emergency care to needed prescriptions. Check with a plan representative for a detailed list of what is and is not covered. Whether you are heading abroad for business or pleasure, the last thing you want is to have not only the stress of an unforeseen health problem but also a large medical bill accopmanying it.
